Data Engineer Manager Opportunity with a Biotech Company

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small team of data engineers focused on data ingestion, transformation, and delivery
• Define and execute data engineering strategy and scalable pipeline architecture
• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and technical teams to support both research and production needs
• Own the full data lifecycle—from raw input to model-ready datasets
• Resolve pipeline bottlenecks and ensure data quality, clarity, and observability
• Champion AWS-native tools and modernize the team’s cloud-based workflows

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience, including 4+ years in leadership roles
• Proven experience building pipelines in AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, etc.)
• Strong Python and/or Spark skills with the ability to review/debug code
• Must have 4+ years working in biotech
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional work
• Experience in scaling data systems in mid-sized, fast-paced environments

Preferred

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience managing data pipelines for ML/AI use cases
• Startup-to-growth company background preferred
