7Seventy in San Diego seeks a Data Engineer to connect data across business platforms and scientific instruments. You will build and own production pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, storage, and downstream use while developing a cohesive, queryable data platform.

The role combines SQL, Python, orchestration, API integrations, lakehouse architecture, data quality, and ITAR compliance. You will work with researchers and engineers to ensure secure, compliant data flows.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of professional data engineering or backend engineering experience.
• Hands-on production data pipelines for batch and/or streaming workloads.
• Experience defining and monitoring data quality problems.
• Experience with lakehouse/medallion architectures and API integrations.
• Experience with heterogeneous data and ITAR/export-controlled environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain secure connectors across Google Drive, GCC High, Slack, and Claude.
• Design pipelines with compliance boundaries to keep export-controlled data in approved environments.
• Collaborate with San Diego lab scientists to ingest instrument data into a queryable platform.
• Create ingestion, cleaning, and standardization pipelines for diverse data sources.
• Develop a unified data foundation for analytics, dashboards, and ML across R&D, manufacturing, and ops.
• Own end-to-end pipelines: schema design, orchestration, monitoring, quality checks, documentation.
