Job summary

Textron is seeking a Data Engineer II to architect, develop, and optimize data infrastructure that powers data-driven initiatives. Lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, well-governed data assets that support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
• Proficiency in designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java/Scala.
• Solid SQL experience and knowledge of relational, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Databricks, Airflow, Synapse).
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps or other version control in CI/CD data platforms.
• Experience with data validation, quality assurance, and testing frameworks.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional and Agile teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery across systems.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data engineering solutions.
• Develop and enhance data validation, quality, and testing frameworks.
• Oversee deployment and maintenance of ETL/ELT, real-time streaming, and batch processing.
• Contribute to data models, storage solutions, and metadata management.
• Ensure data systems comply with security guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Mentor Data Engineer I team members and promote knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshoot complex data issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and approaches.
