Job summary

Early Warning, a trusted data and payments partner, seeks a Data Engineer to build and optimize data science tools and BI infrastructure. You will design data sources, develop dashboards with Tableau, and collaborate across functions to translate metrics into actionable insights.

You will work on ETL processes, data quality, and scalable data platforms while mentoring interns and aligning with risk-management requirements. Hybrid work model in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Education typically obtained through a Bachelor’s degree.
• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in PySpark/Python/Spark/Scala in a Linux environment for Data Engineering development.
• Understanding of Tableau Server and Tableau Dashboards.
• Demonstrated ability with testing, problem solving and analysis.
• Knowledge of dashboard development, reporting, data modeling, ETL and systems design.
• Experience with SQL/Spark Software and data engineering in Python ML toolkits (Python/R).
• Building reusable frameworks for data ingestion and storage in Hadoop or AWS/S3, optimizing/tuning queries, indexing, partitioning.
• Experience collaborating with internal engineering & technology teams in regulated environments; strong communication.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements for reports and dashboards with business users.
• Design and develop backend data sources using Cloudera stack.
• Create complex Tableau dashboards and reports to support business processes.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis and causal analysis.
• Design ETL and data manipulations for analyses and reports.
• Research best practices and guide data platform decisions.
• Set standards for BI tools, structures, and attributes.
• Provide support and training to business teams as needed.
• Write data infrastructure and analytics software tools for Data Science.
• Mentor interns and guide Data Scientists on software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with analytics leadership and EW engineers on platform enhancements.
• Improve ETL and cluster computing; support risk management and data confidentiality.
