Job summary

You will work with Spark, Python, Hadoop, and AWS/S3 in a regulated enterprise environment, focusing on ETL optimization and data governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in data engineering.
• Proficiency with Python and Spark.
• Experience with ML toolkits in Python or R.
• Experience building data ingestion/storage frameworks in Hadoop or AWS/S3.
• Relational databases: tuning, indexing, partitioning.
• Experience collaborating in a regulated enterprise environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: 2-4 years Scala/Java.
• Fin-tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop data infrastructure and analytics software for the Data Science platform.
• Mentor and train interns.

• Write data infrastructure & analytics software tools for Data Science.
• Mentor and train interns.
• Guide Data Scientists on best practices in software engineering.
• Collaborate with analytics leadership and engineers from other parts of EW on architectural and software enhancements to the Data Science platform.
• Collaborate with Data Science leadership on improving ETL and cluster computing.
• Supporting the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Requirements

• Education and experience typically obtained through a Bachelor’s degree
• Typically has 2-4 years of demonstrated progressive work experience in the following areas
• Spark
• Software/data engineering in Python
• Machine Learning toolkits in Python/R
• Building reusable frameworks for data ingestion and storage in Hadoop or AWS/S3
• Relational databases, optimizing/tuning queries, indexing, partitioning, etc.
• Experience collaborating with internal engineering & technology teams within a company on building data infrastructure in a regulated, enterprise environment;
• Strong communication skills
• Preferred Qualifications - Prior demonstrated experience 2-4 years Scala/Java experience
• Fin-tech experience
