Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Data Engineer I to support the Data Discovery and Development team within the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute.

The role focuses on building and sustaining data analytics systems, ensuring availability and efficiency across operational and analytical workflows. You will work on data ingestion, storage, and integration, collaborating with product owners, analysts, and peers to implement data solutions and maintain data

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in data management or data engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Experience with modern data platforms and storage solutions
• Knowledge of SQL for querying, transforming, and validating data; Python scripting
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and metadata practices
• Healthcare data concepts experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Ingest, transform, and store data from internal and external sources to support workflows
• Develop and maintain data models using established patterns
• Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and governance practices
• Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot issues to support reliability
• Update metadata catalogs and documentation
• Collaborate with Product, Business Analysts, and stakeholders under Agile practices
