Job summary

Goodwin's Global Operations Team is seeking a Data Engineer in Boston to build, maintain, and improve data pipelines powering analytics and reporting. You will partner with senior engineers and stakeholders to support data modernization efforts and ensure data quality across platforms.

Responsibilities include ETL/ELT development, governance, and documentation, with Agile participation and Git version control. A CS degree and 2+ years in data engineering are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical role.
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, CTEs, and window functions.
• Experience with Python for data engineering, scripting, or automation tasks.
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift).
• Understanding of core data modeling concepts (fact tables, dimension tables, schema design).
• Experience using Git or similar tools for source control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to data accuracy and detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
• Exposure to law firm application databases (Aderant Expert, Foundation, or iManage) a plus.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Airflow or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies as applied to data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain data pipelines and data models using orchestration and transformation tools across source systems, warehouses, and analytics platforms.
• Support the development and maintenance of ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and reliable; troubleshoot data quality issues.
• Collaborate with data engineers and product owners to implement data governance practices with testable code and monitorable jobs.
• Contribute to documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and processes for team knowledge-sharing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and use Git for all code changes.
