Job summary

Critical Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and sustain secure data pipelines for a federal client in Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on scalable ETL/ELT processing, data modeling, and cross-team collaboration to enable analytics and informed decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a DoD Secret clearance, 4–8 years of data engineering experience (or 2–6 years with a Master's), strong SQL and Python skills, and experience with cloud/on-prem data platforms in a hybrid

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 4–8 years of related data engineering experience, or Master's with 2–6 years.
• IAT Level II certification required.
• Experience building production data pipelines and data warehouses/lakes.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, validation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across enterprise data sources.
• Build data models, schemas, tables, and curated data sets for analytics and reporting.
• Develop data-processing solutions using SQL, Python, and established engineering patterns.
• Integrate cloud and on-prem data platforms in hybrid environments with secure data movement.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and data governance activities with stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot data issues, perform root-cause analysis, and document corrective actions.
• Collaborate with BI developers, data owners, and cybersecurity to define data requirements and mappings.
