Job summary

Derex Technologies INC is seeking a Data Engineer for the DMV area, hybrid with occasional field engagements. You will design and operate data pipelines, build analytics models, and deliver Power BI reporting end-to-end from source to dashboard.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, ensure data quality, and govern analytics assets while engaging with client-facing activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, Engineering, or related field.
• Eight years of professional data engineering or analytics engineering experience.
• End-to-end analytics solution delivery from ingestion to production reporting.
• Significant Power BI experience with semantic modeling and performance tuning.
• Experience defining reporting requirements with business stakeholders.
• Experience with regulatory, compliance, or operational reporting preferred.
• Must reside in the United States and be authorized to work.

Responsibilities

• Build ingestion and transformation pipelines from operational systems, APIs, and files.
• Design analytics data models and dimensional modeling strategies for performance.
• Implement data quality and reconciliation controls with alerts for issues.
• Orchestrate and monitor scheduled workloads with dependency management and retries.
• Build Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards with attention to clarity and load time.
• Administer the Power BI environment, including workspaces and deployment pipelines.
• Define and document metric definitions so numbers are consistent across reports.
• Elicit requirements from stakeholders, train report users, and maintain data lineage.
• Contribute to solution design during presales and project planning.
