Job summary

Mashburn is seeking a Data Engineer to own and evolve our analytics stack, including a dbt-driven data warehouse on Google BigQuery. You will translate business requirements into reliable data transformations and collaborate with BI to deliver trusted datasets.

This role focuses on data quality, scalability, and increased in-house data capabilities, with no people management responsibilities at start.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of SQL experience and data transformations with dbt
• Hands-on dbt in a production analytics environment
• Experience with Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks
• Ability to understand and improve existing data models
• Team-oriented with cross-department collaboration
• Strong ability to learn business processes and apply to data logic
• Experience interfacing with APIs (REST/GraphQL)
• Strong communication skills and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend, and improve an existing dbt project and BigQuery data warehouse
• Develop and optimize SQL transformations that reflect business logic
• Work with stakeholders to understand processes and data usage
• Manage existing and build new ELT pipelines
• Implement changes in dbt
• Refactor inherited models for clarity, performance, and reliability
• Integrate data from external systems and APIs (REST, GraphQL)
• Partner with Power BI developers to ensure datasets support reporting
• Contribute to data quality through testing, documentation, and validation
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to amplify capabilities
