Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking an experienced Data Engineer within the Digital Solutions Finance team to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and architectures. You will leverage Databricks and Google Cloud Platform to ingest, process, and transform large-scale datasets for Finance stakeholders.

You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business partners to deliver high-quality datasets, implement data quality checks, and optimize cloud costs while migrating legacy

Qualifications

  • 4–8 years of data engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java).
  • Hands-on Databricks experience and GCP ecosystem familiarity (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM).
  • Experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data warehouse concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Databricks and GCP.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver datasets.
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting for data reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews and establish data engineering best practices.
  • Perform performance tuning and migrate legacy workflows to cloud platforms.

Job Overview

As a Data Engineer within the Digital Solutions Finance team, you will design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and architecture to support analytical and operational requirements for Finance stakeholders. You will specialize in leveraging Databricks and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ingest, process, and transform large-scale datasets. This role requires a strong technical foundation in data engineering, cloud-based data warehouses, and collaborative problem‑solving to build reliable, scalable, and secure data solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Databricks (Spark/Scala/Python) and GCP services (such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets.
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and establish best practices for data engineering within the team.
  • Perform performance tuning of key processes to optimize processing times and minimize cloud infrastructure costs.
  • Assist in migrating legacy data workflows to modern cloud platforms.
Qualifications
  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java).
  • Hands‑on experience developing data solutions using Databricks, preferred Solid experience working within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, particularly with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver projects of varying difficulty.

Salary

Anticipated salary range: $94,900 - $122,400 Bonus eligible: No
