Job summary

Mizuho in New Jersey is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data solutions for the enterprise using the modern data stack on Databricks. You will work on the Data Exchange and Abstraction Layer project to deliver reliable data products for reporting and analytics across the firm.

Responsibilities include building ingestion pipelines for Bronze, enabling Silver transformations, and collaborating with teams globally to ensure data accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years in data engineering or related role (internships/projects count)
• Foundational SQL skills (joins, aggregations, filtering)
• Python proficiency with basic OOP concepts
• Understanding of tables, schemas, relational data
• Willingness to learn Databricks, Spark, and cloud technologies
• Familiarity with Git or quick adaptation to version control

Responsibilities

• Ingest data into Bronze layer and maintain ingestion pipelines
• Assist with Silver layer transformations: cleansing, deduplication, schema enforcement
• Write SQL and PySpark for defined transformations
• Run/monitor scheduled jobs; investigate pipeline failures
• Document pipeline logic, transformations, and fixes
• Participate in code reviews and respond to feedback
• Learn team standards for version control, testing, deployment
