Job summary

The San José State University Research Foundation (SJSURF) seeks a Data Engineer to develop, integrate, and maintain enterprise data pipelines and data models. The role will consolidate information from multiple university systems into trusted, governed data platforms used for institutional reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.

Under senior guidance, you will design technical solutions, troubleshoot data issues, and support vendor and in-house systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field with coursework in programming, databases, data structures, and statistics.
• 1+ year of professional experience in data engineering, database development, or data analytics development.
• Experience using SQL and programming or scripting languages such as Python or Java.
• Experience with Oracle, Snowflake, or Databricks and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, implement, and maintain data pipelines and integration processes for data warehouse/analytics platforms.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, database objects, data transformations, and data models.
• Apply programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL to data solutions.
• Analyze source data structures and business rules for enterprise data platforms.
• Troubleshoot data pipelines and collaborate with teams to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain data quality, integrity, and completeness processes.
• Deploy scalable, secure data solutions in cloud environments.
• Support data solutions using Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, and GCP.
