Job summary

Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU) seeks a Data Engineer to own the design, development, and optimization of data infrastructure supporting analytics, reporting, and ML initiatives. You will partner with BI analysts, compliance, and tech leadership to translate data challenges into scalable, compliant solutions.

You will implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines, manage data warehouse and lake schemas, ensure data quality, and drive DataOps practices across cloud platforms such as Snowflake and Azure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Data Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in data engineering or related roles.
• Advanced SQL and experience with large-scale databases (PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Strong Python skills for pipelines and automation.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT with dbt or Matillion.
• Working knowledge of one major cloud platform (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts (dimensional modeling, schema design).
• Experience with data quality monitoring, lineage, and observability.
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from core systems and third-party vendors.
• Design and manage the data warehouse and data lake, including schema design, partitions, and performance.
• Develop and enforce data quality frameworks with automated testing and alerts for pipeline issues.
• Lead data modeling practices (dimensional modeling, data vault) to support scalable analytics.
• Collaborate with analysts, compliance, and stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver trusted data products.
• Manage orchestration and scheduling of data workflows using Matillion, Snowflake, or equivalent.
• Evaluate and maintain cloud data infrastructure on Snowflake or Azure with compute, storage, and networking resources.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (NCUA, BSA/AML, GLBA) and partner with security for access controls and audit logging.
• Mentor junior data engineers and analysts; promote DataOps, CI/CD, and documentation standards.
• Support data migration during platform transitions or core system upgrades.
