Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. The role emphasizes Python and SQL proficiency, collaboration with data scientists and business stakeholders, and building robust data models and documentation.

You will work with cloud-based solutions (AWS/Azure/GCP), ensure data quality, and optimize workflows for performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
• Experience with data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Python, Spark, and SQL.
• Ingest, process, and analyze structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Implement data quality checks and transformation logic for reliability.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models, dictionaries, and documentation.
• Monitor and optimize data workflows for performance and scalability.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies.
• Support cloud-based data migration and modernization (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Automate repetitive tasks and contribute to infrastructure improvements.
