Job summary

tastytrade, part of IGNA + tasty IG North America, is seeking a Data Engineer to own data pipeline architecture within our Analytics team in Chicago (Hybrid, 3 days/week). You’ll design scalable pipelines using dbt, Python, Airflow, and Snowflake to enable executive dashboards and data products.

You will drive architectural decisions, ensure data quality and observability, and collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and analysts across the organization.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional data engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines using dbt, Python, Airflow, and Snowflake to support dashboards.
• Own pipeline architecture and performance; drive initiatives to improve data platform.
• Make architectural decisions, including schema design, tool selection, and trade-offs.
• Own data quality and observability; build infrastructure to keep data correct.
• Write ELT code with Git and automated testing and deployments.
• Debug production data issues.
• Process, clean, and validate data from internal and external sources.
• Lead ad-hoc analysis to help teams understand customer interactions.
• Collaborate with upstream/downstream data producers/consumers.
• Contribute to data visualization and reporting in Tableau.
• Upskill others via code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Optimize performance, improve processes, and elevate team practices.
