Data Engineer (Application/Solutions Architect)

Applic/Solutions Architect, Sr. (Data Engineer)

This position is responsible for translating data into readily consumable forms to deliver integrated data to consumers by building, operationalizing, and maintaining data pipelines for Data & Analytics use cases across heterogeneous environments. The Data Engineer also works with various data integration tools supporting data virtualization, replication, messaging, and streaming in hybrid and multi-cloud scenarios.

Responsibilities include detailed data analysis, data modeling, requirements mapping, ETL design, and development. The role involves collaboration with Data Architects to ensure analytics solutions align with enterprise data management and Power Delivery data strategy, focusing on data source identification, reducing redundancy, and increasing data integration across business units.

Responsibilities
  1. Designing and developing methods for processing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using batch and real-time techniques.
  2. Delivering reliable, scalable data by processing data incrementally from sources like Kafka, DBMS, and NoSQL.
  3. Developing release pipelines to automate tasks such as creating build packages, version control, and deployment.
  4. Building and maintaining reusable templates like code libraries and pipeline patterns.
  5. Establishing gatekeeping processes to monitor and control data process promotion to production based on business criticality.
  6. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including data, business, and technical personnel, as well as product owners/managers.
  7. Promoting data reusability by modularizing data delivery processes into data products.
  8. Ensuring data quality and integrity through controls and policies addressing data errors.
  9. Providing technical guidance to less experienced data engineers.
  10. Optimizing performance by parallelizing jobs and minimizing data movement in batch and streaming processing.
  11. Recommending process and technology improvements to reduce development time and increase team effectiveness.
  12. Staying current with data technologies and sharing insights within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience with batch and real-time data processing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, schemas, and storage techniques.
  • Experience with data quality tools.
  • Designing technical solutions for data engineering and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
  • Experience with AI/ML solutions using R and Python.
  • 5+ years in data engineering using on-premise tools such as MSBI, Informatica, Oracle Golden Gate, SQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
  • 3+ years using cloud tools like Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Power BI.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, OpenShift), Agile, DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Experience with APIs and Web Services for data sourcing and delivery.

Additional Details

This is a full-time, mid-senior level role in the Information Technology job function within the Telecommunications and Utilities industries. The salary range is approximately $106,300 to $175,400 annually. The position is based in Atlanta, GA.
