Job summary

Xcelligen Inc. is seeking a senior Data Engineer to build and maintain secure data pipelines within Army Vantage and Advana. You will architect a relational data foundation in Dataverse (Army 365) and provide backend data support for downstream developers, all within an IL5 environment.

The role emphasizes data discovery, automated ETL, data quality, and secure egress to the Power Platform, with onsite work at Camp Murray, WA. DoD program experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Onsite availability at Camp Murray, WA (approx. 25% onsite; 0600-1430 PT).

Responsibilities

• Conduct data discovery and assessment of Vantage and Advana datasets.
• Build and sustain automated ETL pipelines with high availability and error reporting.
• Cleanse, deduplicate, and harmonize data against approved quality rules.
• Develop relational data models, star schemas, data dictionaries, and ERDs.
• Engineer and maintain secure automated egress to the Power Platform tenant.
• Apply RBAC, row-level and field-level security, and PII/PHI masking.
• Document data lineage and transformations in a version-controlled repo.
• Participate in DoD data governance and synchronization groups.
• Deliver monthly status reports and required technical deliverables.

Job description

Build data transformation pipelines within Army Vantage and Advana, securely egress the transformed data, and architect a relational data foundation in Microsoft Dataverse (Army 365). All work is performed within a DoD Impact Level 5 (IL5) environment. This role does not build frontend dashboards; it provides the backend data foundation, documentation, and technical support to downstream developers.

Mandatory Requirements :

1. U.S. citizenship and adjudicated Tier 1 investigation - Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 (T1) / NACI investigation or higher at the time of contract award. CAC, Advana, Army Vantage, and Army 365 accounts are provisioned only after full adjudication.

2. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience - Minimum three years of comprehensive experience in enterprise data engineering, cloud architecture, and DoD systems integration.

3. Onsite availability at Camp Murray, WA - Available for approximately 25% onsite performance, 0600-1430 Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. The Government may temporarily require 100% onsite presence.

Required Platform Expertise :

Deep, verifiable, hands-on experience operating natively within the following is required. This expertise may be demonstrated collectively across the contractor team; because the Government anticipates a single full-time position, candidates with direct experience in two or more are strongly preferred.

• Microsoft Dataverse (Army 365) backend - data egress, schema linkage, and enforcement of Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC)

Required Technical Skills :

• Python, PySpark, or equivalent scripting

• Deliver monthly status reports and required technical deliverables

Education and Certifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• DoD 8140 / DCWF foundational qualification aligned to the assigned work role (e.g., Data Analyst 421, Database Administrator 451)
• Preferred: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Databricks certification, Microsoft Power Platform certification, or Security+
