Job summary

Falcon IT and Staffing Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to support an AI initiative with on-site work in Springfield, VA. The role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines and performing data analysis to support ML development across multiple environments and classification levels.

The candidate will develop data workflows, transform data for ML use, and coordinate with the PM and Data Team to determine data requirements. On-site work and classified locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
• 2-8+ years in data engineering, data science, or related areas.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL; ability to parse data for ML use cases.
• Experience building and automating data pipelines and data processing workflows.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical exchange meetings with customers, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate datasets for AI efforts.
• Work onsite at Springfield, VA, and, when needed, at classified locations with team members and stakeholders.
• Develop and document data workflows and best practices across environments and classification levels.
• Extract, transform, and load data for ingestion into ML development environments.
• Coordinate with Program Manager and Data Team to determine data requirements and data advocacy.
• Identify, document, and address technical challenges; drive process improvements and automation.
• Perform complex data analyses and present results in a clear, holistic manner.

Job Description:

Seeking a Data Engineer to work in an onsite capacity, 5 days onsite primarily at our Springfield, VA customer SCIF site, and/or at our Fairfax, VA

We seek a Data Engineer to support a project team responsible for managing an Artificial Intelligence initiative. The work is performed in a multidisciplinary and collaborative team environment.
This role will report to a project lead and will focus on developing and maintaining data pipelines, as well as performing data analysis, to support Artificial Intelligence development across multiple classification levels and environments.

Position Responsibilities:

• Participate in technical exchange meetings and discussions with our customers, vendors, and internal team to help coordinate, prioritize, and track datasets supporting AI efforts.
• Work in person at the required office and, as needed, at classified locations with team members and customer stakeholders.
• Help cultivate an environment that promotes customer service, excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.
• Develop and document data workflows, assisting stakeholders with data management tasks, procedures, and best practices across multiple environments and classification levels.
• Extract, transform, and load data to prepare for ingestion into Machine Learning (ML) development environments.
• Coordinate with the Program Manager and Data Team to determine data requirements and to serve as the project data advocate.
• Independently identify, document, and address technical challenges.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including optimizing data delivery and automating manual processes.
• Complete complex data analysis, catering results to the customer in a holistic and easy-to-understand way.

Required Skills:

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance W/ Poly.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 2-8+ years of work experience in one of the related areas: Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Python, PySpark, and/or SQL.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency with parsing data in different formats for ML applications.
• Demonstrated advanced experience with text parsing.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency in database principles and technology.
• Demonstrated advanced data processing and data transformation skills with the ability to build, optimize, and automate data pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions.
• Excellent communication skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Desired Skills:

• Previous experience with Databricks or other data management platforms.
• Previous experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) development, particularly computer vision.
• Demonstrated experience working with cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience working with a variety of geospatial data formats.
