About The Role

The Principal Data Engineer at Continuus Technologies LLC plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's data architecture and strategic vision. As a senior technical authority, you will be responsible for defining and evolving our data platforms to support complex analytics, machine learning initiatives, and product development. You will lead high-impact technical projects, influence technology adoption, and mentor senior engineering talent. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in data engineering, systems architecture, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with executive leadership and product teams to ensure our data infrastructure aligns with business objectives and scales effectively as the organization grows.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or related disciplines is essential. Demonstrated expertise in SQL and proficiency in programming languages such as Python are required. Candidates should have extensive experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and distributed systems, along with a proven track record of designing and managing large-scale data platforms. Strong systems thinking, architectural decision-making skills, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) are preferred. Familiarity with streaming and real-time data systems (Kafka, Spark, Flink), data governance, security, and compliance practices, as well as supporting ML and AI-driven platforms, will be advantageous. Experience influencing technical direction without direct managerial authority is also valued.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Data Engineer, your key responsibilities will include defining and refining the company's long-term data architecture and technical strategy to ensure scalability and resilience. You will design and implement highly scalable data platforms and pipelines, establishing standards for data modeling, reliability, observability, and governance. Leading complex, high-risk technical initiatives and migrations will be central to your role, along with serving as the escalation point for critical data incidents and root cause analysis. You will influence the selection of tools and technologies across the data stack, ensuring best practices are followed. Mentoring Staff and Senior Data Engineers will be crucial to elevating engineering standards and fostering a culture of excellence. Partnering with leadership, you will align data strategies with business goals, ensuring our data platforms support analytics, machine learning, and product use cases at scale. Additionally, you will stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continually enhance our data infrastructure.
