We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong Database Administration (DBA) experience to design, build, and optimize our data infrastructure. This role will be responsible for developing robust data pipelines, ensuring database reliability and performance, and supporting data initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate has deep experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, and AWS cloud services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines and workflows.
  • Administer, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, indexing, backups, and recovery strategies.
  • Implement and maintain data models, schemas, and warehouse structures to support analytics and operational needs.
  • Work with data stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reliable, high-performance data solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using Python for data processing, validation, and system optimization.
  • Collaborate with DevOps/Cloud teams to architect and manage infrastructure on AWS (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, EC2, Glue).
  • Ensure data quality, security, and governance best practices are followed across all systems.
  • Monitor data pipelines and database systems, troubleshooting issues and improving reliability.
  • Support migrations, upgrades, and maintenance activities for cloud and on-premises data environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong hands‑on DBA skills, particularly with PostgreSQL.
  • Expert‑level SQL skills, including query optimization and complex data transformations.
  • Proficient in Python for data engineering and automation.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS data and compute services (such as S3, Lambda, Glue, RDS, Redshift, EMR).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and database architecture.
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD processes.
  • Familiarity with data security, compliance, and governance principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to monitoring/alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
