Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a data-focused software engineer in Seattle to build and optimize data pipelines using SQL, Python, and PySpark. You will implement governance with AWS Glue and Lake Formation and support analytics with QuickSight/Tableau.

The role offers onsite work at Seattle, with opportunities to mentor juniors and contribute to impactful data projects for Fortune 500 clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS or data engineering.
• Strong SQL, Python and PySpark skills.
• Experience with data pipelines and warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with AWS data services and devops practices.

Responsibilities

• Write and optimize SQL and Python/PySpark data transformation scripts.
• Implement data cataloging, governance, and security using AWS Glue and Lake Formation.
• Collaborate with analytics to support reporting and visualization via QuickSight/Tableau.

About the Role

• Location: Seattle 5 Days Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Write and optimize SQL and Python/PySpark scripts for data transformation and processing.
• Implement and manage data cataloging, governance, and security using AWS Glue and Lake Formation.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to support reporting and visualization using QuickSight and Tableau.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration using Managed Airflow (MWAA).
• Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with AWS CDK and AWS Build Tools for infrastructure automation.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual [salary/hourly rate] for this position is between [$150,000 - 160,000 annually].Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
