Job summary

A leading company is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to transition from traditional servers to Databricks on Azure. The role involves developing ETL/ELT pipelines and utilizing SQL for data validation. Candidates with strong cloud technology experience are preferred. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with a preference for candidates in Sacramento who can work onsite.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our client as they transition from traditional on-prem servers to Databricks on Azure. You will leverage your extensive experience in data engineering, SQL, and cloud technologies to build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring seamless data migration and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deploy code into production to ensure comprehensive test coverage and addressing any arising questions.
2. Assist in the build and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines in the cloud for migration of data from legacy systems.
3. Implement data services and solutions using an agile-based approach.
4. Utilize SQL for data validation and profiling.

Must-Have Requirements:

1. 5+ years of data engineering experience.
2. Advanced proficiency in SQL and working with large data sets, including an understanding of structuring large data sets.
3. Strong skills in Databricks.
4. Experience with cloud technologies.
5. Ability to work in unstructured environments and solve problems effectively.
6. Experience with BI visualization tools
7. Agile experience

Nice-to-Have Skills:

1. Experience with Azure.
2. Proficiency in Power BI.
3. Knowledge of SSIS.
4. Experience in the banking or credit union industry.
