Job summary

Massar Capital Management, LP in New York is seeking a data-focused software developer to build and optimize Python data applications, pipelines, and services. You will work closely with researchers and traders to align data platforms with evolving investment research needs.

The role requires strong Python (NumPy, Pandas) and SQL skills, plus experience with Relational/NoSQL databases. Familiarity with Airflow, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus; a Bachelor’s in a tech field is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in a technology related field.
  • Strong skills programming in Python (incl. NumPy & Pandas) as well as significant experience with SQL, as a software developer, quantitative developer or data engineer.
  • Exposure to Relational database engineering or NoSQL database.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of investment research teams' data needs and provide the right solution to them.
  • Develop, test, and optimize Python data applications, frameworks, and services.
  • Collaborate with technologists and researchers to align data applications and platforms with evolving business needs.
  • Write and review technical documentation, including requirements for researchers and proposals for platform enhancements, as well as production support guidelines.
  • Frequently take the lead on production support operations.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The data team delivers infrastructure and models to deploy valuable data across the business. Working closely with our researchers and traders, we build resilient and easily maintainable data models and pipelines. Additionally, our developers support live trading by maintaining pipeline operations and enhance our data platform by developing new frameworks, libraries, and services, thereby enhancing team efficiency, throughput, and code quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Strong skills programming in Python (inc. Numpy & Pandas) as well as significant experience with SQL, as a software developer, quantitative developer or data engineer
  • Exposure to Relational database engineering or NoSQL database
  • Experience with any of the following systems is a plus: Apache Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Strong design, debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience at either a hedge fund or for a trading group on the buy-side
  • Experience with any of the following systems is a plus: Apache Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes
