Job summary

Viking is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Data Platforms & Solutions team in the US. You will build scalable data pipelines to feed production ML models for dynamic pricing, collaborating with data scientists and engineers to ensure data quality and governance.

The role requires 4+ years in data warehousing and ETL, strong SQL, and experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred). Knowledge of Spark, Databricks, and PowerBI is a plus in a fast-paced travel-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of data warehousing and data pipelining experience; Data LakeHouse is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Databricks.
  • Proactive, independent, and collaborative work style.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience designing data models and data architecture, ideally in travel/leisure domain.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Data Platforms & Solutions team. As a Data Engineer within our dynamic pricing product team, you will play a crucial role in supplying data for production machine-learning models. Working alongside data scientists, data analysts, and software developers, you will ensure the efficient and accurate handling of data pipelines, facilitate the implementation of data models, and contribute to the overall enhancement of our pricing strategies. Your key responsibilities will include:

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's (from a four-year college or university) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of related experience in data warehousing, data pipelining and other big data technologies. Strong knowledge and/or experience in building a DataLakeHouse is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), with a preference for Azure.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Databricks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A proactive approach.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to switch gears quickly and cope with change.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data engineering solutions, with a strong focus on data models and data architecture, ideally in the travel and leisure industry.
  • Azure Databricks (ML Flow, model serving)
  • Synapse Analytics & Pipelines
  • Strong skills in Python/Spark SQL
  • Experience with PowerBI
  • Experiance with real time data pipelines (kafka, event hubs, spark streaming) is a plus

  • Highly competitive compensation plan.
  • Salary range $135,000 - $150,000 annually determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.
