Your Role and Impact: Northwind Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Data Engineer to build a robust and efficient data infrastructure, facilitating the flow of information and supporting data-driven decision making. This role requires a strong foundation in database management, coding, system architecture, and an understanding of extracting value from large, complex data sets. Collaboration with various teams and a continuous pursuit of knowledge in evolving data technologies are essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and construct scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and store data from various sources.
  2. Implement complex data processing workflows and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  3. Use Delta Lake for ACID transactions and schema enforcement.
  4. Optimize data retrieval and develop data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  5. Manage and oversee database systems to ensure performance, availability, and security.
  6. Develop and maintain database architectures, including data warehousing solutions.
  7. Perform database tuning and troubleshooting to improve data reliability and efficiency.
  8. Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to ensure data solutions meet business needs.
  9. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.
  10. Provide technical support and expertise to end-users and team members.
  11. Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
  12. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture across multiple sources and formats.
  13. Develop systems supporting data accessibility and interoperability.
  14. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data engineering and big data technologies.
  15. Evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools to enhance data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
  16. Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data.
  17. Monitor data pipelines and systems performance, implementing fixes and improvements.
  18. Conduct regular audits of data and systems to identify and address issues.
  19. Ensure high availability and reliable performance of data systems.

Skills:

  1. Advanced knowledge working with Microsoft Azure services.
  2. Advanced knowledge in both SQL and NoSQL database systems.
  3. Advanced knowledge in Python for data manipulation and scripting.
  4. Advanced knowledge working with Azure / DevOps.
  5. Strong understanding of data modeling principles and practices.
  6. Experience with RESTful API development.
  7. Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  8. Experience with ETL tools and data warehousing technologies.
  9. Excellent analytical and multitasking skills.
  10. Clear and concise communication skills, both oral and written.
