We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in SQL, relational databases, ETL/Data Engineering, Azure, Data Warehousing, and BI/Reporting.
The ideal candidate will be a well‑rounded Data Engineer who can work across the full data lifecycle, from data ingestion and transformation through data warehousing and ultimately delivering reporting and analytics solutions.
This is an established enterprise data environment with multiple ongoing initiatives. The selected candidate will work closely with engineering, technical, product, and business teams to develop, enhance, and support data solutions.
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Duration: Long‑term contract with potential for extension
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support enterprise‑scale data engineering and ETL solutions.
- Work extensively with SQL and relational databases, including data modeling, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, PySpark, and related technologies.
- Develop and support data warehouses, data models, and data integration solutions.
- Work with cloud‑based data platforms including Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, and Azure Blob Storage.
- Transform and prepare data for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Develop and support BI/reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and/or Cognos.
- Participate in CI/CD and DevOps processes using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- Work with batch and streaming data pipelines as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, technical analysts, product owners, project managers, business teams, and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot production issues, improve existing applications, and support ongoing data platform enhancements.
- Follow data engineering best practices around development, testing, deployment, performance, and security.
- Contribute to technical standards and best practices while working effectively within a collaborative team.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of hands‑on Data Engineering experience
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle
- Strong understanding of Data Warehousing and Data Modeling
- Hands‑on experience with ETL/Data Integration
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Experience with Azure Databricks and/or PySpark
- Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, or Blob Storage
- Experience with BI/Reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Cognos
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps, preferably Azure DevOps or GitHub
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
Preferred Skills:
- Cognos experience is highly preferred
- Experience with batch and streaming data pipelines
- Experience with Azure Event Hub, Azure Functions, or Stream Analytics
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI‑assisted development tools
- Airline/transportation industry experience is a plus
