Job summary

Accenture Federal Services is hiring for a data/platform engineer to deploy and manage metadata platforms, integrate diverse data sources, and ensure secure, scalable data environments.

You will work with Open Metadata, data catalogs, and cloud/kubernetes stacks while coupling CI/CD, monitoring, and governance to mission-critical government data workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles.
• Experience with data catalog platforms (Open Metadata, Collibra, Alation).
• Knowledge of data warehouse and lake architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms or Kubernetes (e.g.: CKA, AWS Solutions Architect).
• Experience with data pipeline tools (Airflow, GitHub, GitLab).

Responsibilities

• Deploy and configure Open Metadata using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts.
• Manage infrastructure across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) or on-premises environments.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and system scalability.
• Configure and maintain connectors for diverse data sources and data warehouses.
• Develop connectors and integrations using Python.
• Implement and monitor metadata ingestion workflows.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and data lineage issues.
• Administer metadata stores and search indexes (MySQL/PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch).
• Set up monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana; maintain runbooks and operational docs.

What you’ll do:

Platform Deployment & Management

• Deploy and configure Open Metadata using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts
• Manage infrastructure across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) or on-premises environments
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and system scalability

Data Integration & Connectivity

• Configure and maintain connectors for diverse data sources including databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server), data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and pipeline orchestrators (Airflow, dbt)
• Develop custom connectors and integrations using Python
• Implement and monitor metadata ingestion workflows
• Troubleshoot connectivity and data lineage issues

Database & Search Administration

• Administer MySQL/PostgreSQL metadata store including backup, recovery, and performance tuning
• Manage Elasticsearch for search functionality and optimize query performance
• Monitor database health and implement scaling strategies

Security & Compliance

• Configure authentication mechanisms (SSO, OAuth, LDAP/Active Directory)
• Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and data access policies
• Ensure encryption at rest and in transit
• Maintain compliance with data governance standards and regulations

Monitoring & Operations

• Set up monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and logging tools
• Track system performance, ingestion metrics, and data quality indicators
• Respond to incidents and perform root cause analysis
• Create and maintain operational documentation and runbooks

Collaboration & Support

• Partner with data stewards, engineers, and analysts to understand metadata requirements
• Train users on data catalog features and best practices
• Support data governance initiatives and policy implementation
• Participate in change management and platform upgrades

What you’ll need:

• 3 years' experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles
• Prior experience with data catalog platforms (e.g.: Open Metadata, Collibra, Alation, etc.)
• Knowledge of data warehouse and lake architectures
• Knowledge of cloud platforms or Kubernetes (e.g.: CKA, AWS Solutions Architect, etc.)
• Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g.: Apache Airflow, GitHub, GitLab, etc.)

Bonus Points if you have:

• Ability to communicate design solutions with development/engineering team and customer
• Experience with data governance, data normalization or metadata management initiatives
• Building out and using CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with standard AI models and practices
• Understanding of loop logic and lang graph

Cleared :

Must have an active TS/SCI level clearance and a willingness to sit for a polygraph

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
