Job summary

AvantCredit in Chicago is seeking a motivated individual to assist in implementing scalable infrastructures for analyzing large datasets. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and programming experience in R, Matlab, or Python.

Job Description

You’ll report directly to the co‑founder/Chief Risk Officer. You will assist in the implementation of scalable infrastructures for analyzing large real‑time datasets. Furthermore, you will be involved in the effort to deploy interfaces between Ruby on Rails and a back‑end service that generates predictions using trained statistical models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, finance or other programming related fields from a top tier school
• Must possess basic knowledge in DB and SQL programming
• Must be familiar with Object‑Oriented Design (OOD) concept
• Ability to identify non‑obvious solutions to complex problems
• Programming ability using R, Matlab, Python or other statistical software
• Preferably has a basic understanding in statistics, machine learning modeling techniques
• Preferably is familiar with the concept of test‑driven development and code review
