Job summary

ABSC is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines for a DoD/IC customer in Chantilly, VA. The role requires transforming diverse data into usable information and delivering scalable data platforms for analysts and mission users.

You will work in a cross-functional Agile team, applying Python/SQL/Scala/Java to develop solutions, while ensuring data quality and performance across complex environments. On-site work is required with active TS/SCI clearance and Polygraph.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing software to retrieve, parse, process, or transform data.
• 3+ years of experience developing solutions using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• 3+ years of experience designing scalable ETL/ELT workflows for analytics or reporting.
• Experience in collaborative cross-functional teams.
• Experience using GitLab/GitHub/Bitbucket for version control.
• Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, VA.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Security+ within 30 days of start date.
• Willingness to train on Snowflake and obtain certification.

ABSC is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a highly mission-focused Intelligence Community customer in Chantilly, VA.

Today’s intelligence environment generates massive volumes of structured and unstructured data from increasingly diverse sources. Turning that data into actionable information requires scalable pipelines, resilient platforms, and engineers who understand how to transform complex datasets into usable, mission-relevant information.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and platforms that enable analysts, developers, and mission users to access and derive value from disparate datasets. You will work within a collaborative, cross-functional Agile team to develop scalable data solutions supporting critical national security missions.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for retrieving, parsing, transforming, and processing structured and unstructured data.
• Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and workflows supporting analytics, reporting, and mission applications.
• Develop scripts, services, and applications that convert diverse data sources into usable and standardized formats.
• Design and support scalable data platforms capable of ingesting, processing, storing, and delivering large volumes of information.
• Work closely with analysts, developers, data engineers, and data consumers to understand mission requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support the assessment, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of data platforms.
• Develop solutions using programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• Use modern version-control and collaborative software-development practices with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Troubleshoot data-quality, ingestion, processing, and performance issues across complex data environments.
• Participate in Agile engineering activities, technical discussions, design reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Support the scalability, reliability, monitoring, and operation of mission data platforms.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing software used to retrieve, parse, process, or transform structured and unstructured data.
• 3+ years of experience developing solutions using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• 3+ years of experience designing or developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics or reporting.
• Experience developing technical solutions within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Experience using version-control tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Experience developing scripts or applications that transform multiple data types into usable formats.
• Ability to support the scaling, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of data platforms.
• Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, VA.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Security+ Certification within 30 days of start date.
• Able and willing to train on Snowflake/obtain Snowflake certification at employer cost.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in UNIX or Linux environments, including basic commands and Shell scripting.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with distributed data processing or computing technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka.
• Experience developing or supporting real-time data or streaming applications.
• Experience implementing or supporting NoSQL databases, including MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Experience with data warehousing technologies such as AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Experience working within Agile engineering environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Current Security+ Certification.
