Job summary

Blu Omega Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and solutions for federal programs. This remote role supports enterprise analytics and machine learning workloads, with a strong preference for candidates near DC/MD/VA or Atlanta.

Public Trust eligibility is required. Responsibilities include building ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure, data lake optimization, data modeling, data quality and governance, plus collaboration with Agile teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing scalable ETL/ELT workflows for analytics or ML workloads.
• 5+ years with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar.
• 3+ years applying dimensional data modeling to improve performance.
• Hands-on Azure data pipelines development.
• Experience with distributed data lakes or large-scale data architectures.
• Experience with data profiling, quality, and cataloging.
• Experience with NoSQL concepts such as Cosmos DB or Elasticsearch.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness.
• U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

Blu Omega is seeking a Data Engineer to support the supported federal mission area. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data solutions supporting mission-critical federal programs.

Location: Remote (strong preference for Atlanta, GA, or Washington, DC / Maryland / Virginia area)

Clearance / Suitability: Public Trust eligibility required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across Azure and related cloud data services
• Build and optimize data lake and distributed data solutions supporting enterprise analytics and machine learning workloads
• Transform and integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources into reliable, analytics-ready datasets
• Design and optimize data models and database solutions across SQL and NoSQL technologies
• Support data profiling, data quality, data cataloging, and governance across distributed and heterogeneous datasets
• Perform backend SQL/NoSQL testing, data validation, and post-deployment quality checks
• Automate data pipeline operations to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, analysts, and stakeholders within Agile delivery teams to assess requirements and deliver mission-focused data solutions

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics or machine learning workloads
• 5+ years of experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar platforms
• 3+ years of experience applying data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling, to improve analytical performance and query execution
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines within Azure environments
• Experience working with distributed datasets, data lakes, or similar large-scale data architectures
• Experience supporting data profiling, data quality, and data cataloging across distributed and heterogeneous datasets
• Experience with NoSQL concepts or platforms such as Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies
• Experience performing backend SQL/NoSQL testing, post-deployment validation, and data quality checks
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure data services
• Experience with Databricks, including Lakeflow Jobs, Databricks Workflows, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Delta Tables, or Delta Sharing
• Experience with Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, transforms, or ontology modeling
• Experience with streaming or real-time data processing technologies such as Spark Structured Streaming, Azure Event Hubs, or Kafka
• Experience with CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code within Azure environments using Azure DevOps Pipelines, Terraform, or GitHub Actions
• Experience working within cross-functional Agile delivery teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

Compensation

Salary Range: $0.00 - $120,000.00

Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
