Job summary

Black Cape is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (2+ years) to join our on-site team at Pentagon (Arlington) or Marks Center (Alexandria), VA, or Arlington HQ. Responsibilities include building data pipelines, enabling data availability, and delivering machine learning-ready datasets for national security missions.

Active Secret clearance is required, with willingness to obtain TS/SCI. The role requires 3+ years of data engineering experience, Python, Databricks, ETL, and experience with relational

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Proficient in Python for data manipulation.
• Experience with Databricks and ETL pipelines.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQLite).
• Familiarity with Agile SCRUM methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines for availability, transformation, and storage.
• Transform data and metrics into actionable dashboards and insights.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and DoD/IC stakeholders.
• Support deployments on cloud environments and ensure data security and quality.

Exceptional Data Engineers to ensure data availability (movement, modification, and storage) with Software Engineers and Data Scientists ensuring deployments and scalability for critical users!!

We are considering Mid to Senior Level Data Engineers.

We are expanding and need to hire motivated data engineers to help build innovative solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate needs limited direction and must be passionate about technology. A willingness and desire to pick up new technologies or languages quickly is a must.

Our team builds and deploys cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning applications that directly support national security missions. We leverage the Databricks platform for advanced data science and engineering, and transform complex model outputs into compelling, interactive dashboards.

Our work is grounded in successful deployments on JWICS, NIPR, SIPR utilizing AWS, combining commercial best practices in an Agile environment to ensure we deliver impactful capabilities to senior defense leadership.

Required Technical Skills (MUST HAVES):

• 3+ years of professional experience needed for MOST of our opportunities
• Python experience with data manipulation, scripting, and more
• Databricks experience
• Proficient in designing and implementing Extract Transform Load (ETL) data processes
• Experience with at least ONE relational database, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQLite
• Experience with Agile SCRUM methodologies

Preferred Technical Skills (NICE TO HAVES):

• Familiar with database design, server management, connection protocols, database normalization, and principles of information theory
• Experience with data cleaning or data organization
• Familiar with SQL, NoSQL and Graph Databases and Data Lakes
• Familiar with Dashboarding tools similar to Qlik
• Familiar with Cybersecurity with design and implementation of unique data transfer protocols
