Job summary

AfterQuery in San Francisco invites experienced researchers to join its Research Fellow program for 12–16 weeks of full-time, paid research. Define and execute a project with a mentor, formulate research questions, design rigorous experiments, and develop datasets, methods, or benchmarks with reproducible results.

Applicants should have a PhD, MD, JD, or equivalent advanced degree and a strong publication record in relevant fields such as AI, medicine, finance, or STEM.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, JD, or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Strong record of research or publications in peer-reviewed venues.
• Clear technical communication and strong scientific writing skills.
• Availability to work full time in San Francisco for 12–16 weeks.
• Significant academic, clinical, legal, or industry research experience.
• Domain expertise in medicine, finance, law, STEM, or related fields.
• Research publications at leading conferences or peer-reviewed journals.
• Two or three links to representative research, code, or technical work.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a full-time project with an AfterQuery research mentor, aligned with interests and core research area.
• Formulate research questions, design rigorous experiments, and analyze results.
• Develop the datasets, methods, evaluations, or benchmark assets the project needs.
• Document methods and results clearly and work with AfterQuery's research and engineering teams to make the work reproducible.
