Job description

GCyber is seeking a Data Developer / Data Engineer to help establish an integrated, trusted data foundation for a federal mission environment. You will bring together information from multiple source systems, improve data quality and consistency, and create reusable data products that support applications, automated workflows, integrations, dashboards, analytics, and decision-making.

We welcome candidates from data engineering, database development, ETL/ELT development, analytics engineering, data architecture, and business-intelligence backgrounds. Deep experience with one modern data stack is more important than experience with every technology listed.

As the Data Developer, you will

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain data models, schemas, pipelines, transformations, and reusable data services.
  • Ingest and integrate structured and unstructured information from databases, files, APIs, applications, and authoritative source systems.
  • Implement data validation, cleansing, normalization, mapping, reconciliation, lineage, metadata, and quality controls.
  • Develop SQL, ETL/ELT processes, data flows, interfaces, and semantic models that support operational applications, reporting, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with mission stakeholders, architects, analysts, developers, integration teams, dashboard teams, testers, platform administrators, and security personnel.
  • Document source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, data architecture, technical decisions, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, incident analysis, performance tuning, defect resolution, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Current DoD 8140/8570-compliant baseline certification appropriate to the assigned position, such as Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, or another approved credential.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in data engineering, database development, ETL/ELT development, analytics engineering, data architecture, business intelligence, or a related discipline; equivalent education, training, certifications, and experience will be considered.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one database, data platform, integration tool, or data-pipeline technology.
  • Working knowledge of data modeling, transformation, integration, validation, security, performance, and production support concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD customers, government data, and Agile or DevSecOps delivery teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, SQL Server, Power BI, OneLake, data lakes, data warehouses, REST APIs, Python, Spark, or comparable technologies.
  • Familiarity with data governance, master and reference data, semantic models, role-based access, data lineage, and cloud or hybrid data platforms.
  • Experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting production data pipelines or services.
