Job summary

About the role

The Data Collection Specialist is responsible for the administration, monitoring, support, and optimization of Les Olson Company's equipment monitoring and data collection platforms, including EKM. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate device communication, maintaining customer connectivity, supporting automated supply and service processes, and providing valuable equipment utilization insights to both customers and internal teams.

The Data Collection Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for EKM installation, maintenance, reporting, and troubleshooting while helping drive adoption and adherence to company policies and procedures. This position collaborates closely with customers, sales teams, service teams, supply operations, and IT personnel to ensure monitoring systems deliver maximum value and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate is highly organized, technically capable, customer-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional service while supporting operational excellence across the organization.

What you'll do

EKM Administration & Monitoring
  • Manage and administer EKM environments in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Monitor the Managed Reports inbox and respond to incidents requiring attention
  • Monitor communication between EKM and company ERP and CRM systems
  • Ensure monitored devices remain connected and communicating properly
  • Investigate and resolve connectivity issues impacting data collection and reporting
  • Assist customers with reconnection efforts when monitored devices fall offline
Data Collection Operations
  • Develop, maintain, and improve policies and procedures related to device monitoring, installation, and ongoing maintenance
  • Ensure data collection systems operate effectively and accurately across customer environmentsMonitor reporting data for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain system documentation and operational standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve data collection processes and efficiencies
Customer Support & Technical Assistance
  • Assist customers with EKM installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Provide guidance on monitoring best practices and device connectivity requirements
  • Attend customer meetings, either virtually or onsite, to discuss monitoring solutions and operational impact
  • Act as a trusted resource for customers regarding monitoring and reporting capabilities
  • Deliver service that enhances customer satisfaction and reinforces Les Olson Company's reputation for excellence
Reporting & Business Insights
  • Analyze monitored device information and provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Produce reports and recommendations regarding equipment usage and performance
  • Identify potential sales opportunities and communicate qualified leads to the sales team
  • Assist teams in leveraging monitoring data to improve customer outcomes and operational efficiency
Service & Supply Coordination
  • Create service requests for equipment reporting maintenance issues
  • Notify appropriate service personnel of equipment requiring attention
  • Communicate supply requirements to the supply team to help maintain customer uptime
  • Coordinate with service and supply teams to proactively address customer needs
  • Assist in ensuring customers experience minimal disruption through timely intervention and communication
Training & Process Improvement
  • Train employees across the organization on EKM installation and maintenance procedures
  • Promote adherence to company standards and established monitoring processes
  • Help improve internal knowledge and consistency through documentation and training initiatives
  • Recommend improvements to systems, workflows, and operational practices
  • Support ongoing optimization of Les Olson IT's image and print strategy

Qualifications

  • Experience working with device monitoring platforms, print management software, or equipment monitoring systems
  • Technical troubleshooting experience involving network-connected devices
  • Familiarity with ERP, CRM, or business management systems
  • Experience supporting managed services or technology service organizations
  • Experience creating reports and analyzing operational data
  • Training or instructional experience
  • Knowledge of print and imaging technologies is preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments
  • Aptitude for diagnosing and resolving technical issues
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism when interacting with customers, team members, and business partners
