A leading health care provider seeks a Data Certification Specialist for full-time days. This role involves verifying eligibility for WIC participants, conducting health assessments, and performing clerical duties. Data Certification Specialist
32 hr. Full-Time Days
I. Determines and verifies categorical, residential and economical eligibility for all potential WIC participants at certification and recertification visits. Reviews application for proper completion.
Verifies participant’s categorical (WIC) eligibility, geographical eligibility, and identification according to Federal, State and Local WIC Guidelines on WIC application and documents ID number of participant’s charts. Verifies participant’s income according to Federal, State and Local WIC Guidelines on application. Enters and saves data from WIC application and referral source on appropriate screens within the computer system. Maintains group relationship with family members and documents on participant’s chart. Completes ineligibility letter if residential, categorical and/or economic criteria is not met.
II. Obtains health assessment data for WIC certification.
Acquires WIC Participant’s height, weight, bloodwork, E.D.D. (if applicable in accordance with Federal, State, and Local WIC Guidelines). Follows correct procedures for procuring bloodwork in accordance with OSHA guidelines and BSMH Infection Control Policies. Checks and records microcuvette control daily. Follows correct procedures for procuring height and weight measurements in accordance with WIC Policy and Procedure Manual. Captures, enters and saves health data on appropriate screens within the WIC system. Transcribes health assessment data onto Health Assessment form. Verifies/assists completion of the Health Assessment forms according to Federal, State, and local WIC Guidelines.
III. Explains the WIC Program to all potential WIC participants (funding source, criteria for participation and service provided).
Reads/reviews the Trumbull County WIC Program instructions to all new/reinstated WIC participants. Explains vendor system.
JOB ACCOUNTABLITIES: OTHER
I. Responsible for clinic/clerical office duties.
A. Maintains inventory of clinic supplies: bandages, hem cuvettes, soft touch tips, gauze, monolete, towels and cleaning supplies monthly and informs appropriate staff when needed.
B. Files WIC charts and other documents as needed.
C. Completes WIC reminder cards for assigned days and mails within two weeks of scheduled appointments.
D. Shows effective use of equipment and materials.
E. Maintains cleanliness of work environment by cleaning/disinfect equipment/work surfaces daily. (recording daily cleaning on log)
F. Cross trained in all duties pertaining to clerk/receptionist.
II. Completes BSMH/WIC trainings/inservices as assigned.
III. Performs other duties and assigned by WIC Program Manager.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate or equivalent preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Six months to one year in clinic/clerical setting required. Clinical work which demonstrates ability to handle a busy workload; varied office equipment and different personalities.
