Job summary

MacStadium in Las Vegas is seeking a Data Center Technician to join our team to build, install, and maintain compute, storage, and network infrastructure within our data center environment.

The role involves collaborating with engineering on hardware deployment, cabling, and routine repairs, with hours 9 am to 3 pm PT, Monday through Friday and occasional coverage as needed. 1 year of IT experience and a willingness to pursue certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of IT experience with strong hardware knowledge.
• Experience with Mac hardware is a big plus.
• Basics of data center infrastructure build and cabling.
• IT certifications are a plus; willing to obtain relevant certs within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the build and install of compute, storage, and network infrastructure in the data center.
• Perform hardware configuration and troubleshooting for MacOS, Windows, VMware, and MacStadium software.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues including racks, switches, and cabling; hands-on repairs.

We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join our Las Vegas teamtoprovide a variety of services to build and maintain MacStadium’s patented technology and infrastructure. This position works closely with engineering teams performing hardware and system builds, as well as configuringand troubleshooting new or existing infrastructure.

This is a position with the hours of 9 am to 3 pm PT, Monday through Friday. This position requires flexibility to help provideadditional coverage on as needed basis.

What you will be doing:

• Assist with the build and install of compute, storage and network infrastructure at the data center.You will be responsible for all aspects of maintaining and operating a world class data center
• Complete general system and network configurations"s for MacOS, Windows, VMware and MacStadium proprietary software
• Troubleshoot and repair infrastructure issues -hands on diagnostic and repair work including racks, switches and cabling
• Coordinate with Engineers and Project Managers to complete large new infrastructure build projects
• Ensure heating and cooling systems are operational and satisfy environmental requirements
• Maintain inventory counts of all company assets
• Workdirectly with customers to provide excellent service while ensuring the expected performance of their infrastructure
• Record and update documentation of work operations, incident reports, and outages; assistService Desk Analysts during incidents and by providing backup coverage as needed
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis of infrastructure failures as required
• Maintaina positive work environment, encourage healthy organizational morale, and promote safety at all times

What skills and experience you need to have:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience;technical experience within the Information Technology field strongly preferred.
• Experience with multiple types of hardware (experience with Mac hardware a huge plus)
• Experience with the basics of center infrastructure build and cabling
• Existing IT infrastructure certifications are a plus, as is a willingness to obtain relevant certifications within the first year of employment
• Previous experience with an incident ticketing and tracking system such as Jirais a plus
• Strong oral and written communication skills; results-oriented team player
• Ability to work and succeed within a global team environment
• A strong desire to continuously learn new technologies

Physical demands and requirements:

The position operates in a data center environment and physical requirements include but are not limited to:

• Able to safely use a ladder (ascend and descend heights up to approximately 10ft/3m)
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg
• Full useof hands to fingers and use of hand tools
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
• Able to distinguish different colors
