Job summary

PGTEK is seeking a Datacenter Hardware Technician in Memphis, TN, onsite 100%. Shift rotation includes day/evening hours with initial 24/7 coverage, then a Monday-Friday schedule. Responsibilities include hardware repair, rack and stack, ticket handling, and collaboration with the team to keep Dell servers operational.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on Dell server experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and be able to lift 65 pounds and work at heights in a fast-paced datacenter.

Qualifications

• Must be a current US citizen who resides in the Memphis, TN metro area.
• Proven Dell server racking, stacking, and servicing in a data center environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement for Dell servers and related equipment.
• Track and manage service tickets, prioritizing and resolving issues promptly.
• Diagnose hardware failures using server components and systems knowledge.
• Communicate clearly with team members and internal customers for a smooth experience.
• Lift up to 65 pounds and work on ladders in a datacenter environment.
• Collaborate with technicians and other departments to meet deployment goals.

Datacenter Hardware Technician

Location: Memphis, TN (100% Onsite)
Shift: This is a 24/7 data center with rotating shifts, at least for the first few months. After several months, this will rotate back to a normal Monday-Friday (8-5 or 9-6) role.

Current shifts:

• Tuesday-Saturday (7am-4pm)
• Sunday-Thursday (3pm-12am or 11pm-8am)

Salary: 75-85K (based on experience)

Overview: We are seeking skilled Datacenter Hardware Technicians to manage break/fix operations, ensuring seamless operations of Dell servers in a fast-paced environment. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, with an emphasis on hardware repair, rack and stack, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working onsite in a dynamic datacenter environment, managing tickets, and collaborating with a team to resolve hardware issues quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Hardware Support:Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement (e.g., GPUs, NICs, memory, etc.) for Dell servers and related equipment.
• Ticket Management:Track and manage service tickets, prioritizing and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Problem-Solving:Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, leveraging expertise in server components and systems.
• Customer Service:Provide clear and effective communication with team members and internal customers, ensuring a smooth experience.
• Physical Tasks:Lift up to 65 pounds, work on ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks in the datacenter.
• Team Collaboration:Work efficiently with other technicians and departments to meet deployment goals and resolve technical issues.
• Attention to Detail:Ensure all repairs and tasks are completed to a high standard, maintaining precision and quality.

Preferred Skills:

• Nvidia GPU/NIC Experience:Familiarity with Nvidia hardware and networking interfaces is a plus.
• Basic Networking Knowledge:Understanding of basic network troubleshooting and configurations.
• Linux Log Reading:Experience reading and interpreting Linux logs for hardware diagnostics.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Linux CLI:Command-line experience in Linux for basic system navigation and troubleshooting.
• RoCE Networking:Familiarity with RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) network protocols.

Additional Information:

• Onsite Work:This role requires 100% onsite presence in Memphis, TN, with no remote work options.
• Physical Requirements:Ability to perform hands-on hardware repairs, lift heavy equipment, and work in a physically demanding environment.
