Job summary

EOS IT Solutions is seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to install, terminate, test, and document fiber cabling within data center environments. You will support MACs, collaborate with engineers, and ensure high-quality, safe deployments.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on fiber experience, OTDR testing skills, and knowledge of both single-mode and multi-mode cabling. This role is onsite and critical to data center operations.

Qualifications

• Fiber Splicing & termination experience in data center or critical infrastructure.
• OTDR testing and fiber certification preferred or equivalent hands-on skill.
• Proficient in documenting installations, tests, and reports.
• Capable of following health and safety standards and site procedures.
• Experience with single-mode and multi-mode fiber is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber cabling within the data center.
• Perform rack-and-stack activities and support network deployments.
• Conduct fiber patching, routing, labeling, and cable management.
• Test and certify fiber links using OTDRs and meters.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and diagnose faults in fiber networks.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, test results, and docs.
• Support MAC activities across the data center.
• Collaborate with engineers, managers, and third-party vendors.
• Ensure work complies with safety standards and procedures.
• Assist with data center migrations and projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cabling within the data center environment
• Perform rack-and-stack activities and support network infrastructure deployments
• Conduct fiber patching, cable routing, labeling, and cable management activities
• Test and certify fiber links using OTDRs, light source/power meters, and other testing environments
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and diagnose faults within fiber networks
• Maintain accurate records of installations, test results, and network documentation
• Support Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) activities across the data center
• Work closely with network engineers, implementation managers, and third-party vendors
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health & safety standards and site procedures
• Assist with data center migrations and projects as required.
• Proven experience as a Fiber Technician within a data center, telecommunications, or critical infrastructure environment.
• Hands-on experience with fiber installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting
• Experience working with single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with data center environments and operational procedures.
• Experience interpreting cabling diagrams, floor plans, and technical documentation

• BICSI Certification (desirable)

• Knowledge of structured cabling systems and network infrastructure
