Job summary

Unisys Corporation is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain the data center IT infrastructure, install and configure servers, switches and racks, and ensure continuous access to network services. The role involves routine maintenance, backups, and coordination with Dell engineers to resolve issues on customer sites.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, possibly an associate degree or technical certification, and 2–4+ years of data center experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 2–4+ years of IT data center experience recommended.
  • Ability to install, configure servers, switches and racks and related hardware; perform routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • The Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining the data center's IT systems, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services.
  • Engineers will provide troubleshooting, repair, parts ordering, preventative maintenance and installation of Dell products located at customer sites.
  • Triage issues with direction from Dell Support.
  • Execute plan of action from Dell Domain Engineer/L3.
  • Document POA results, logs and service reports to Dell via case email.
  • Reseating parts, swapping or replacing parts.
  • Server testing and validation (running diagnostics, capturing and uploading logs).
  • Upgrading firmware as needed.
  • Parts locker management, inbound and outbound parts handling.
  • Spare parts management, separate from parts locker during CW server deployments.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • The Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining the data center's IT systems, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services. This includes installing and configuring data center infrastructure such as servers, racks, switches and other hardware; regularly monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues; performing regular maintenance and updates to systems, software and hardware; ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently; carrying out routine network maintenance (managing user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam); ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply; ensuring data backups are completed and stored correctly; assisting with disaster recovery operations in the event of power failures, fires, or other disasters; documenting procedures, systems and network configurations; complying with and maintaining security standards within the data center; and communicating regularly with other IT staff and management to report on the status of the data center.
  • Engineers will provide troubleshooting, repair, parts ordering, preventative maintenance and installation of Dell products located at customer sites.

  • Spare parts management, separate from parts locker during CW server deployments.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • May require technical certification or an Associate Degree.
  • Generally 2-4+ years of experience in the area of responsibility.
