Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage the physical installation, configuration, and decommissioning of server and networking hardware.
• Execute rack-and-stack tasks alongside structured cabling projects.
• Install, label, trace, and diagnose fiber and copper cabling to ensure connectivity.
• Resolve hardware malfunctions and network hurdles to maintain uptime.
• Swap faulty components such as power supplies, memory, NICs, and drives.
• Provide remote-hands support by handling service requests and incidents.
• Oversee full hardware lifecycle from receiving to decommissioning, with proper records.
• Adhere to safety, security, and escalation protocols in all tasks.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional for a 6-12 month onsite assignment in Dulles, VA 20189 to support our data center operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the physical installation, configuration, and decommissioning of server and networking hardware.
• Execute rack-and-stack tasks alongside structured cabling projects.
• Ensure reliable connectivity by installing, labeling, tracing, and diagnosing fiber and copper cabling.
• Resolve hardware malfunctions, network connectivity hurdles, and cabling complications to maintain system uptime.
• Swap out faulty components such as power supplies, memory, network cards, and drives.
• Deliver remote-hands assistance by addressing incoming service requests, incidents, and support tickets.
• Facilitate the full lifecycle of hardware, including receiving, staging, deployment, inventory management, and decommissioning.
• Maintain accurate records of all tasks while strictly adhering to established safety, security, and escalation protocols.

Essential Qualifications

• Proven background in IT infrastructure or data center maintenance.
• Practical expertise in hardware troubleshooting, server deployment, and rack-and-stack procedures.
• Technical proficiency with fiber-optic and copper cabling standards.
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking gear, storage arrays, and server architecture.
• Experience utilizing incident management or ticketing software to track work.
• Capability to interpret technical diagrams, cable maps, and rack elevation layouts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear documentation.

Desired Competencies

• Background in enterprise, hyperscale, colocation, HPC, AI, or GPU-focused data environments.
• Practical skills in structured cabling and fiber-optic testing, as well as Linux environments.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Jira, Remedy, or ServiceNow.
• Relevant industry credentials like BICSI, CCNA, Server+, Network+, or CompTIA A+.
