Job summary

Openkyber is seeking a Data Center Tech L2 to join onsite teams in Sparks, NV or South San Jose, CA. The role requires hands-on data center work and strong hardware troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of rack-and-stack experience, cabling, iLO/iDRAC configuration, and basic Windows or Linux admin skills to support network and server operations. You will collaborate with network admins to resolve issues, rack and cable servers, and ensure remote access readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on data center experience.
• Basic OS administration knowledge (Windows or Linux).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with network admins to resolve server issues, including cable replacement or re-routing and hardware upgrades.
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to enable remote access for configuration and validation.
• Provide hands-on support to network admins for ad hoc server or switch requests.
• Coordinate procurement of replacement components, install parts, and manage returns of defective hardware.
• Perform server/network device cabling per wiring diagrams and verify connectivity and readiness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server issues with help from remote network or sys admins.
• Perform server firmware upgrades to run latest approved versions.
• Configure server IPs and default access credentials per procedures.
• Conduct physical inspections/audits of servers, components, and consumables for inventory accuracy.

Job Description/ Responsibilities

• Collaborate with network administrators to resolve server-related issues, including cable replacement or re-routing, optics replacement on server and switch ports, and installation of upgraded hardware components.
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to enable remote access by network administrators for configuration and validation activities.
• Provide hands-on support to network administrators for ad hoc requests involving servers or network switches.
• Coordinate procurement of replacement components, install the parts, and manage return shipment of defective hardware to the respective vendors.
• Perform cabling of the server/network device in accordance with approved wiring diagrams and coordinate with network administrators to validate connectivity and operational readiness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server issues to identify and isolate root causes with help of remote network or sys admins.
• Perform server firmware upgrades to ensure systems are running on the latest approved versions.
• Configure server IP addresses and default access credentials in accordance with standard procedures.
