Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Data Center Technician for night shift at our Abernathy, TX data center. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical maintenance, ensuring safe environmental conditions and reliable operations.

You will inspect and service UPS, PDUs, cooling systems, and related equipment, respond to alarms, and work with vendors while adhering to CBRE processes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of data center experience.
• Ability to work night shifts and on-site at Abernathy, TX.
• Proficient in electrical/mechanical maintenance of UPS, PDUs, switchgear.
• Strong safety, quality, and regulatory compliance awareness.
• Basic math and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily site inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems.
• Respond to BMS alarms and perform emergency repairs.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors per Master Service Agreement.
• Complete planned preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities during walkthroughs.
• Maintain thorough maintenance records and quality checks.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments. This is a nightshift position and requires on-site presence at the Data Center facility based in Abernathy, TX.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
• Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
• React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
• Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn’t meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
• Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
• Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU’s and utilities.
• Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
• Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
• Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.
• Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
• Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
• Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance. As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation.

What You’ll Need

• Technical Skills: Electrical / Mechanical: UPS, PDUs, LV/MV switchgear, panel boards, transfer switches (ATS/STS), grounding, three-phase power basics, diesel generator interfaces, CRAC/CRAH equipment, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, N+1 concepts.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• 3+ years of experience working in a data center capacity.
• Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
• To effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
• Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
• Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
• Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
