Job summary

WESCO Global Solutions is seeking a Data Center Solutions Architect to advise customers on data center infrastructure, including cabling, cabinets, PDUs, UPS, and cooling. You will design solutions using Visio/AutoCAD/Revit and provide BOMs and specifications that reflect WESCO’s value proposition.

You will collaborate with sales and technical teams, travel 10–25% for customer engagements and industry events, and pursue ongoing training to strengthen data center architectures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or commensurate technical experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in a technical role supporting design, implementation, or commissioning (data center or infrastructure environments preferred).
• Experience designing with Visio preferred; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of physical layer infrastructure design including copper and fiber cabling, routing, patching, and structured cabling standards.
• General understanding of data center environments, including cabinets, power (PDUs/UPS), cooling, and active network components.
• Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD/DCDC or equivalent are preferred but not required.
• Strong customer-centric mindset with effective communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to travel approximately 10%–25%.

Responsibilities

• Establish WESCO’s credibility with end-user customers and deliver value throughout the sales cycle as a technical liaison.
• Provide technical deliverables including BOMs, designs (Visio, AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools), and written specifications.
• Serve as a technical resource aligned with WESCO business leaders and sales teams to execute sales strategies and initiatives.
• Partner with Global Technical Resource and Solutions Support teams to scale execution by leveraging shared resources and improving turnaround time for customer deliverables.
• Participate in advanced technical training and continued education to strengthen knowledge of system architectures in data center environments.
• Act as liaison to key vendor partners to support solution development and identify opportunities to position vendor technologies.
• Deliver technical presentations and hands-on training in customer meetings, technical seminars, and industry events focused on data center and infrastructure solutions.
• Support customer engagement through WESCO innovation or lab center visits when applicable, providing subject matter expertise as needed.

As a Data Center Solutions Architect, you will be a trusted advisor and technical support professional for the WESCO Global Solutions business, with a focus on Data Center Solutions. The Technology Support (TS) team serves as a key technical resource across all supported technologies, acting as a technical advisor to the Communications and Security Solutions (CSS), Electrical and Electronic Solutions (EES), and Utility and Broadband Solutions (UBS) sales organizations.

This role focuses on the design and support of data center physical infrastructure solutions, including structured cabling, fiber and copper connectivity, pathways, spaces, cabinets, racks, and supporting infrastructure. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of Layer 1 network infrastructure and data center environments, with working knowledge of active equipment such as switches, storage, compute, UPS, and PDU systems.

Responsibilities:
