Job summary

A leader in data center services is looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer Staff II to support commissioning projects. Responsibilities include developing mechanical test procedures, performing acceptance testing, and coordinating vendor activities. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of experience, and excellent communication skills. Job description

Data Center Services Mechanical Commissioning Engineer Staff II

Base pay range: $72,800 per year – $85,500 per year.

This role supports development and execution of all mechanical aspects of assigned commissioning projects, from initial engagement to turnover to the client. The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will develop mechanical test schedules, finalize procedures, review project submittals, coordinate vendors, perform testing, and document results.

Responsibilities
  • Support safety for all mechanical tests.
  • Perform complete commissioning and performance acceptance testing of mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • Develop mechanical test procedures, MOPS, SOOs, and checklists.
  • Conduct QA/QC of all mechanical test procedures.
  • Provide input to the overall commissioning plan.
  • Generate reports for mechanical testing and contribute daily status reports to the Commissioning Project Manager.
  • Participate in customer equipment Factory Witness Tests.
  • Coordinate and manage vendors.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure build adherence to vendor submittals.
  • Document test results and ensure proper operation of installed equipment.
  • Review design specifications, manufacturer submittals, one‑line drawing sets, and project schedule documentation.
  • Execute test scripts to confirm equipment and system operation to design specification.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by the commissioning team and customer site.
  • Engage with customers and vendors to maintain positive experience and schedule adherence.
  • Conduct facility walk‑downs, turnover, and punch list reviews.
  • Maintain general understanding of LEED specifications and requirements.
  • Identify new opportunities to provide service and value to customers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of data center commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&ID’s, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of mission‑critical design concepts.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation/Monitoring Systems (BAS/BMS) and mechanical equipment such as air handlers, humidifiers, VFR, CRAC/CRAH, evaporators, adiabatic coolers, and associated sensors and meters.
  • Knowledge of basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow.
  • Knowledge of the Test, Adjust, and Balance (TAB) process.
  • Strong experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Work under construction site conditions.
  • Excellent oral and written English.
  • Extensive travel may be required (75%).
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport immediately.
  • Can work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
