Data Center Services Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
CAI Mission Critical is seeking Mechanical Commissioning Engineers with a minimum of five to seven years of Data Center Commissioning experience to support development and execution of all mechanical aspects of commissioning projects.
Base pay range
$91,300.00/yr - $107,300.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Support and contribute to all aspects of safety for all mechanical tests.
- Complete commissioning and performance acceptance testing of the mechanical infrastructure systems.
- Develop mechanical test procedures, MOPs, SOOs and checklists; perform QA/QC of these documents.
- Provide input to the overall commissioning plan and develop reports for mechanical testing; contribute to daily reports to the Commissioning Project Manager.
- Attend and actively participate in customer equipment Factory Witness Test.
- Assist with vendor coordination and management.
- Perform equipment inspections to ensure adherence to vendor submittals.
- Provide test documentation that equipment is delivered, installed, and tested correctly and set to function for the customer.
- Support design specification reviews, manufacturer submittals, one-line drawings, and project schedule documentation.
- QA/QC of mechanical equipment installation/startup; execute test scripts to confirm operation to design specifications.
- Ensure safe work practices on the site and engage with customers and vendors to meet goals and schedule.
- Provide daily status reports for the mechanical commissioning team; conduct facility walkdowns, turnover, and punch list reviews.
- Have a general understanding of LEED specifications and look for opportunities to provide service and value to the customer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five to seven years of Data Center commissioning experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Knowledge of mission-critical design concepts and BAS/BMS systems; familiarity with HVAC equipment (Air Handlers, CRAC/CRAH), sensors, and related controls.
- Knowledge of basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow; knowledge of TAB process and mechanical trend analysis.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to produce final documents in these formats.
- Ability to work under construction site conditions.
- Excellent English communication skills; willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%).
- Passport or ability to obtain one; able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
