Job Overview: Data Center Project Validation Specialist (Contract)

Our client is seeking a seasoned Data Center Project Validation Specialist to support the development of a next-generation, high-density data center on an hourly, project-based contract (estimated duration: 3–6 months). The specialist will provide expert oversight during the Pre-FEED (Preliminary Front-End Engineering Design) and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phases, ensuring all technical deliverables align with performance targets, compliance standards, and industry best practices for rack densities exceeding 100kW.

This is a remote-first role with occasional on-site visits and is critical to the client’s progression toward Final Investment Decision (FID) and Financial Close.

Project Goals

The primary objective is to validate the technical and operational foundation of a high-density data center design, mitigating risks early and ensuring alignment with investment and delivery milestones.

Key Objectives

• Validate Pre-FEED and FEED deliverables to ensure they meet the criteria for high-density (100kW+) operations.
• Identify risks that could impact compliance, performance, or financial readiness.
• Coordinate efforts between internal stakeholders and external partners to align validation activities with overall project timelines.
• Provide well-documented insights to support due diligence and investment decision-making.

Core Responsibilities

• Validation Oversight: Lead the assessment of architectural, engineering, and technical plans across Pre-FEED and FEED stages.
• Risk Assessment: Identify and document design, engineering, or implementation risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with engineering teams, architects, vendors, and financial stakeholders to ensure cohesive validation efforts.
• Compliance Assurance: Confirm alignment with industry standards such as ASHRAE, TIA-942, NFPA 75, and ANSI/BICSI.
• Reporting: Deliver detailed validation reports and risk assessments to inform decision-making and investor confidence.
• Milestone Monitoring: Track and report on progress toward validation, FID, and Financial Close objectives.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Minimum 8 years in data center project management, technical validation, or design coordination.
• Demonstrated experience with high-density environments (100kW+ racks) is strongly preferred.
• In-depth understanding of Pre-FEED and FEED phases in infrastructure development.
• Strong familiarity with data center design standards and operational requirements.
• Hands-on experience validating large-scale, high-density infrastructure.
