Job summary

GridCARE, Inc. seeks a quantitative engineer to build models of data center power consumption and future projections. You will develop simulation and forecasting frameworks spanning intraday to multi-year horizons, generating realistic scenarios under various assumptions.

The role rewards strong analytical thinking, learning new domains rapidly, and collaboration with engineers and stakeholders to drive tangible planning decisions. Hybrid in US, with remote flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field with 1–5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with data, mathematical models, simulations, forecasting problems, and time-series analysis.
  • Experience forecasting under uncertainty or probabilistic modeling.
  • Passion for understanding how data centers work and interact with the electric grid.
  • Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar technical domains quickly and communicate clearly.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and open-ended questions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; demonstrated use of AI tools in technical workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build models representing physical systems inside data centers.
  • Develop simulation frameworks capturing uncertainty and growth across planning horizons.
  • Explore effects of technology, utilization, deployment, and external factors on energy use.
  • Analyze historical data to identify patterns and drivers of uncertainty.
  • Evaluate model performance and improve assumptions and methods.
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders to translate questions into analyses.
  • Communicate model assumptions and findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Take ownership of modeling components from concept to deployment.
