Job description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience with protection relays in an electrical environment within industrial or commercial settings.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and communication protocols used in protection applications.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity aspects related to protection and control systems.

The Data Center team designs and operates sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems worldwide. Facilities Technicians support physical data center operations, including heating, cooling, power supply, generators, UPS, electrical distribution, and monitoring systems. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various systems, reading blueprints, conducting tours, and assessing system performance.

As an expert, you will develop innovative approaches to reduce operational costs and enhance data center efficiency. You will ensure environmental and safety standards are maintained, troubleshoot problems, and manage performance issues and outages to minimize downtime.

Our Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains data centers and develops platforms that support Google's products. We are dedicated to engineering excellence, troubleshooting, and ensuring network reliability for optimal user experience.

The US salary range for this full-time role is $129,000–$189,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Specifics will be shared by the recruiter during hiring.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Testing, validating, improving, and certifying new processes for critical equipment operation.
  • Ensuring compliance with global standards and analyzing compliance results.
  • Monitoring operations, controlling site activities, and responding effectively to incidents.
  • Implementing and improving facility and maintenance programs globally.
  • Developing strategies to minimize costs, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.
