Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking an Exceptional Data Center Technician to maintain the health of our server and network infrastructure. You will focus on MTTR/MTTD and be ready to respond to emergencies on site, including on-call shifts.

You will troubleshoot, rack and install equipment, manage inventory, document procedures, and collaborate with provisioning teams to ensure capacity and reliability across data centers. A hands-on, detail-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience with server, storage, compute and network hardware.
• 2+ years troubleshooting servers and networking infrastructure.
• 1+ years inventory management of server and network equipment.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
• 24/7 facility requires day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair servers; rack and stack network equipment during build out.
• Maintain network infrastructure; perform gear swaps and repair optics/fiber links.
• Manage, respond to, and resolve data center operations tickets in Jira.
• Create and maintain documentation of tasks and SOPs.
• Receive and decommission data center hardware.
• Install racks, servers, and switches; stage, cabling, power up, handoff to provisioning.
• Maintain warehouse inventory and asset management in internal system.
• Vendor returns for infrastructure under and out of warranty.
• Manage spare parts inventory within the data center.
• Define, design, and implement network layouts and solutions within data centers.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Exceptional Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for the health of our server and network infrastructure for Data Centers. You will be responsible for our two most important data center operations metrics: mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to repair (MTTR). You are great at following directions, are a fast learner and are super attentive to details. You are accessible via cell phone and willing to get onsite when there are emergencies as needed. You understand all aspects of the equipment you are responsible for to drive efficiencies and optimizations where necessary to simplify and improve our server intake and repair processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performing troubleshooting and monitoring of the servers, diagnose and repair. Rack and stack of data center network equipment during build out.
• Maintaining our network infrastructure which includes network gear swaps, troubleshooting optics/fiber links and repairing them.
• Manage, response and resolution of data center operations tickets used cross functionally via Jira.
• Create and Maintain documentation of tasks and standard operating procedures
• Receipt and Decommissioning of data center hardware.
• Installation of racks, servers and switches; this includes staging racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of hardware to the provisioning team for customer capacity allocation.
• Maintain Warehouse inventory and asset management using our internal application.
• Vendor returns for infrastructure under and out of warranty
• Manage spare parts inventory within the data center
• Define, design, and implement network layouts and solutions within our data centers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of experience working with server, storage, compute and network hardware.
• 2+ Years of experience troubleshooting and repairing servers and networking infrastructure.
• 1+ years of experience in Inventory Management, and ordering, receiving and shipping server and network equipment. (good to have)
• Navigating the system’s directories and filing system
• Manipulating files in the Linux shell
• Using Linux commands for process management
• Basic troubleshooting and debugging
• Bash or other scripting (good to have)
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs
• 24/7 facility will require day and night shift work

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience being on-call and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
• Experience leading Data Center Infrastructure projects.
• Curious to always learn new things within the Data Center World
• Excellent prioritization and time management skills
• Able to work in a fast paced environment and detail oriented
• 1+ years of experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber.
• 1+ years of experience in Power and Cooling concepts inside the data center.
